1. Chassis Introduction
The truck uses the brand-new Mercedes-Benz Arocs 4158 chassis, inheriting the Mercedes-Benz family DNA with a rugged appearance and a comfortable cab.
It adopts the Servolwin electronic–hydraulic steering assist system, which integrates hydraulic and electronic power assistance into the dual front-axle steering mechanism, making steering easier.
The cab is 2.3m wide and features a newly designed dashboard, adjustable wide seats, and other elements that provide an excellent driving experience for both driver and passengers.
Safety equipment includes ABS (anti-lock braking), ASR (traction control), dual-circuit compressed-air braking with a reserve pressure of 12.5 bar and a sustained pressure of 10 bar, all-disc brakes with automatic pad clearance adjustment, cruise control with speed limiter, and a hill-start system. These active and passive safety systems greatly enhance driving safety.
The truck is powered by the new OM473 high-performance diesel engine, featuring:
- X-Pulse high-pressure common rail injection (injection pressure 2,700 bar)
- Asymmetric turbocharger (delivers near-peak torque at low revs for a stronger start and climbing)
- EGR + SCR aftertreatment (Euro V compliant)
- High-performance engine braking
Standard transmission: Mercedes Powershift 3 intelligent gearbox (automated manual) with 16 forward gears and 2 reverse gears. It automatically selects optimal gears, shifts quickly, offers a climbing mode, and provides driving programs for different applications. PTO options are abundant, with optimized connection angles. The rear PTO delivers 600–900 Nm torque and can drive an in-line hydraulic pump, whether stationary or moving.
